Freedom Feeder Extended Day Slow Feed Hay Net (2") is designed mostly for stall use or to create movement by spreading out feeding stations for your herd in a large turnout or pasture setting. The goal of Freedom Feeder is for every horse to have high fiber, low calorie forage available 24/7. Using Freedom Feeders is a way to “free” us from meal routines and help our horses live happier, healthier, and more natural lives, think of them as “Pastures In A Net”. Freedom Feeders may eliminate anxiety around meal time, reduce the likelihood of colic, and behavioral issues such as weaving, or pacing. This net can hold about 6 flakes, up to 50 pounds of hay or a 2-string bale net. This net needs to be filled every other day once the horse is satiated and trust is rebuilt that it will never again be without forage. The opening is at the top and designed with an overlapping flap that is meant to be securely closed with the provided four small carabiners. It comes with two large carabiners, and black cords that attach to the top corners for hanging. It comes in 3 mesh options: 1”, 1.5”, or 2” mesh openings. 1″ Mesh openings are for insulin resistant or smaller grazing animals. We recommend that you start transition with 1.5″ mesh then slow them down further using 1″ mesh only if necessary. 1.5″ mesh openings are the most optimal opening to mimic natural grazing and slow consumption for most horses. 2″ mesh openings are intended for aggressive eaters and larger horses, and you might consider going down to 1.5” mesh size once the horse is transitioned.
