After dehydration, the material is sifted, sorted, and graded. To refresh, for recipes containing little moisture, soak 1-part dry dices in 3 parts water in as little as 15 minutes to 1 or 2 hours depending on preference and recipe, or blend dry in dry-mix formulas and peppers will refresh upon 20 minutes or more for low heat liquid cooking.
